74% of FIH Pro League games are on Poligras
Final Pro League Clashes Played on Poligras Tokyo GT
The final weekend of June marks the close of an extraordinary FIH Pro League season as Australia play host to New Zealand at The Perth Hockey Stadium. The Oceania double header takes place just weeks before the teams meet in both the men’s and women’s pools at Tokyo 2020 making it a crucial part of their Olympic preparation. It is fitting therefore, that the clash is being played on a Poligras Tokyo GT pitch – the state-of-the-art, sustainable Olympic surface that will provide the stage for the game’s biggest showpiece this summer.
Trusted and Chosen for the Biggest Hockey Events
With Poligras installed in their home venues in Sydney, Perth and Christchurch both teams know and trust the surface on which their biggest challenges of 2021 will be battled out. And they are joined by Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Argentina and India who have all chosen Poligras as the surface for their Pro League home fixtures. In a disrupted season, Poligras has been a constant and trusted surface for 74% of the games.
Poligras Plays Fast
The Australia Men go into this weekend’s clash as 2019 Champions and favourites. They played their 7 home fixtures in 2019 on Poligras scoring an average of 6.29 goals per game versus Holland’s 2.27 over the same number of matches. Whilst there are clearly many factors at play, from style of play to quality of the home team, the goal tallies show that Poligras pitches play fast and encourage action.
Poligras sets the stage for Olympic showpiece
With Belgium Men and the Netherlands Women already crowned this year’s FIH Pro League Champions, there is still much to play for this final weekend. In a season which has been disrupted by the pandemic, it is exceptional that two thirds of planned fixtures were still able to go ahead, but it also makes chances for international play, particularly this close to the Olympics, all the more precious. Add the opportunity to play on the Olympic surface, the promise of a fast-paced, high-action game after a drought in live sporting action and it will be all the more precious again for players and fans.
